Cumberbabes, please read on.

It has come to my attention that we are currently losing by a whisker in the BBC America poll to a worthy and admirable foe - Tom Hiddleston and his wonderful legion of fans.

Now before all else, I must admit that I, too, love Tom. He is a brilliant actor, a certified star.

But on the other hand, we have Benedict.

Benedict, who can change the atmosphere and electricity in a theatre with the quirk of an eyebrow.

Benedict, who can set thousands of fangirls’ hearts a-flutter with the simple act of taking off a scarf.

Benedict, who can audition for a role while squatting on the floor of a friend’s kitchen, filming himself on an iPhone for goodness’ sakes, and still get the part.

Benedict, whose baritone can melt the steeliest of resolves, who can read anything from Keats to “Casanova” to “The Little Red Hen” and still sound like a badass.

Benedict, who can entertain and frighten and delight and vex and horrify and inspire.

And lastly… Benedict, who for so many of us has opened up the wonderful universe of Sherlock Holmes, of literature, and who will continue to do so in the years to come.

It has also come to my attention that today, the 7th of July, is the death anniversary of the brilliant Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The image above is my contribution to the “I Believe In Sherlock” event which we are attempting to trend today. Now I believe it would be a fitting tribute to the man to rally our troops together, to bring to victory this amazing actor who has brought us into the incomparable universe of Doyle.

What say you? Will you answer to the cry? Will you VOTE?

YES! TELL ‘EM!!!!
